The hands on rock stencils were made by the Wiradjuri people who occupied most of the central west of what is now New South Wales, and were one of the largest Aboriginal language groups. One of the features of the walk is the relatively unspoiled forest that surrounds the area. It is typical of the vegetation that once covered this part of the ranges. Benjamin Boyd constructed Boyds Tower using expensive Pyrmont sandstone as a symbol of his power, with the intention of it serving as a lighthouse. However, the government did not approve of his plans. Shortly after, Boyd went bankrupt and fled to California, leaving behind his debts and workers. The tower was repurposed as a whale spotting platform for the whaling industry until the 1920s, when it fell into disrepair. The internal stairs and flooring have since rotted away, but you can still see where the tower was struck by lightning and Boyd's name inscribed on the parapet. Take a stroll along the wheelchair-accessible boardwalk to the lookout for breathtaking views of Twofold Bay and its striking red cliffs. Don't forget your binoculars, as you may catch a glimpse of humpback and southern right whales during their migration between April and November. 6029 was expertly crafted by Beyer, Peacock, and Company in Manchester for the New South Wales Government Railways. This magnificent locomotive was a proud member of the AD60 class, boasting a unique wheel configuration of 4-8-4+4-8-4. The AD60 class was truly a marvel, with three articulated parts that allowed the locomotives to navigate 6-chain curves with ease. A total of 42 locomotives made up the AD60 class, making it the only type of Garratt to grace the tracks of New South Wales. These engines were not only the largest but also the most powerful steam locomotives to ever operate in Australia. 6029 began its service in 1954, traversing the Main North, Main South, and Main Western lines with grace and power. However, after over 18 years of faithful service, the locomotive was retired in September 1972. Thankfully, in 1974, the Australian Railway Historical Society's ACT division acquired the engine. Despite facing some boiler issues in 1982, 6029 continued to captivate audienc

Remote without being inaccessible, it offers secluded swimming and fishing in a pristine natural environment.
