Chasing Waterfalls: The Spellbinding Wonders of Witches Leap

Witches Leap is a beautiful waterfall that truly shines when it is flowing at a reasonable rate. However, more often than not, it is just a mere dribble, making it less impressive. The waterfall is easily accessible via a well-maintained walking track that is less than a 10-minute walk from the parking area. After a rainfall, the waterfall is definitely worth a visit as that is when it is at its most spectacular.

To reach Witches Leap, park at Katoomba Falls Reserve across the road or, if available, to the right of the old Cafe. From there, simply walk straight into the park and follow the track down to the waterfall.

There are two ways to access the falls. You can take the short route straight down to the falls, reaching them in just a few minutes. Alternatively, you can opt for the longer round walk by turning right at the sign. This route will take you past a couple of lookouts before descending into the gully where the falls are located. You will then ascend back up to your car.

The name "Leap" is a Scottish term for waterfall, and it is used to describe several waterfalls in the Blue Mountains.
