On Top of the World: The Challenge of Mount Kosciuszko Summit Walk #tour...

Prepare yourself for an exhilarating day filled with high-altitude adventure! Embark on an 18.6 kilometre round-trip journey from Charlotte Pass to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, as you walk or ride winding through the stunning high peaks of Kosciuszko National Park. This trail is ideal for off-road capable electric wheelchairs, and on a clear day, the breathtaking views stretch out in every direction.

This summer path is a favourite among nature enthusiasts, hikers, and mountain bikers seeking an outdoor thrill. Follow the old road to Mount Kosciuszko, and be sure to have your camera ready to capture the magnificent sights of Australia's highest mountains, historic huts, weathered snow gums, and unique rock formations along the way. Marvel at the vibrant displays of wildflowers, including marsh marigolds, silver snow daisies, mountain roses, and buttercups in the early summer.

Approximately 4.5 kilometres from Charlotte Pass, you'll come across the picturesque Snowy River, a perfect spot for a scenic picnic. Cross the river and continue your journey as the trail gradually ascends to Seamans Hut, constructed in 1929, before leading to Rawson Pass. If you're biking, securely park your bike at Rawson Pass (bike stands are available) and trek the 1.67 kilometres to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, standing at 2228 meters above sea level as mainland Australia's highest peak. Beyond this point, electric off-road wheelchairs are permitted to reach the summit, just ensure you have enough battery power to make the journey.

Return to Charlotte Pass along the same trail, or for those seeking a challenge and are well-prepared, consider combining this hike with the longer Main Range walk or join the Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko walk.

The estimated time to complete the trail is 6 to 8 hours round trip, featuring steep inclines and descents, so a moderate fitness level is recommended.
