The historic Locomotive 3001, which is 120 years old, was built in 1903 and has had quite the journey. Originally from Manchester, it spent its early days chugging along Sydney's suburban rail network. But as technology advanced and trains became electrified in the 1920s, the 3001 was relocated to regional New South Wales. From 1967 onwards, this trusty locomotive played a crucial role in providing a mail service between Mudgee and Gwabegar four days a week. After its retirement, the 3001 joined the NSW Heritage Fleet and traveled all over the state until it was put into storage in 1996. Now, this piece of history is back in action, pulling passenger trains along the NSW Rail Museum's Loop Line. It's amazing to see how this old locomotive has stood the test of time and continues to be a part of our railway heritage.
