The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo: Australias Iconic Bird

One of Australia's most beloved and iconic birds is the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, known to live up to eighty years in captivity.

This large white parrot stands out with its dark grey-black bill, striking sulphur-yellow crest, and yellow wash on the underside of its wings. Males and females look pretty similar, but you can spot a female by its red-brown eye (darker brown in males). These cockatoos are loud and hard to miss, whether they're chilling out or flying around. And the young ones? They're basically mini versions of the adults.
